Belum lama ini salah satu produsen software terkemuka di dunia, yaitu Microsoft merilis versi terbaru dari software OS andalannya, yaitu Windows 8. Memang Sistem Operasi Windows telah menjadi favorit pengguna komputer di seluruh dunia. Jadi wajar saja jika sejak tanggal rilisnya yaitu pada 26 November 2012 lalu, Windows 8 telah terjual sebanyak lebih dari 4 juta kopi.

Kelebihan Windows 8

Seperti apa sih kelebihan windows 8 ini, apa benar-benar lebih baik dari pada versi sebelumnya yaitu windows 7? berikut ini ulasan mengenai kelebihan software sistem operasi terbaru dari microsoft.

1. Kelebihan Windows 8 Dapat Booting Lebih Cepat
Menurut merahhitam, windows 8 memiliki kemampuan untuk booting lebih cepat, dalam demonya ia hanya membutuhkan waktu yang sangat singkat yaitu hanya detik. merupakan kemampuan yang digandrungi oleh mereka yang pecinta kecepatan. Namun sepertinya ini dipengaruhi oleh hardware juga. Jika harward tidak sesuai dengan aturan spesifikasi minimal, tentu saja akan lebih lama.

DOS 6 comes with a data compression program called DoubleSpace.  It may almost double the size of your hard drive by compressing files. Compression programs use a kind of shorthand so that repeated data is stored in less space.  Actually, DoubleSpaced compressed drive is a single file on an uncompressed drive. Such files are called Compressed Volume Files (CVF). DoubleSpace is invisible to your programs. You can use DoubleSpace on both hard disks and floppy disks. HOWEVER, DON'T USE IT WITHOUT READING THE CAUTIONS BELOW.


DOUBLESPACE CAUTIONS:

1. A DoubleSpaced hard drive is more likely to give trouble than an uncompressed drive. If you have plenty of room on your hard drive, don't install DoubleSpace. You will be much better served with a large hard drive that is not compressed. To date, there have been many reports of problems with DoubleSpace. If you need more room, my advice is to buy another or a larger hard drive.

2. If you plan to use DoubleSpace, you should read the README.TXT file in the C:\DOS directory.

Disabling Write Caching in DOS 6

DISABLING WRITE CACHING

To avoid potential write caching problems, you may want to disable the DOS 6 SmartDrive write caching feature. However, first you will need to know about the DOS 6 AUTOEXEC.BAT file.

Below is a typical DOS 6 AUTOEXEC.BAT file for an 80286, an 80386, or an 80486 machine.

You can use EDIT, the built-in DOS editor, to make or modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT file or the CONFIG.SYS file.  Both of these files reside on the root directory of your start-up disk. Remember, the changes you make when you modify an existing AUTOEXEC.BAT or CONFIG.SYS file will not take effect until you restart your computer.  Never make a modification to either the AUTOEXEC.BAT file or the CONFIG.SYS file without first making a backup of these important files on diskette. If your start-up disk is drive C, you can load the AUTOEXEC.BAT file into EDIT by typing:
